The horse project involves members caring for, judging, grooming, training and showing their horse. Basic feeding and husbandry skills will be acquired, with attention to animal welfare. Members will also demonstrate proper equitation and showmanship technique on achievement day. Throughout project work, members will learn about and practice handling safety and it is a B.C. 4-H policy for members to use helmets.

There are many units designed to allow members to work with various types of horses, from foal training to equitation and showmanship of an adult horse. Units are also available for handling and driving horses.
